Electrical Contractor Licensing in Alabama

Electrical Contractors in the State of Alabama are required to obtain a license from the Alabama Electrical Contractors Board.  State law stipulates that anyone performing electrical work must hold a license.  As part of the licensing process, contractors are required to prove that they have the required work experience to perform electrical work, and pass a qualifying exam.

General Contractor Licensing in Alabama

In order to regulate the construction industry, the State of Alabama created the State Licensing Board for General Contractors in 1935.  Before a contractor begins work on any commercial or industrial projects worth $50,000 or more; or any residential project worth more than $10,000, they must hold a license from the state.

The State Licensing Board for General Contractors has licensed more than 10,000 contractors in Alabama.  A team of licensing specialists is always available to assist and answer any questions about the licensing process.  The Board meets once every quarter to review applications and issue licenses to those who meet the requirements.  To be eligible, contractors must complete the application process and pass the qualifying exam.
