Electrical Contractor Licensing in Tennessee
Electrical Contractors in the State of Tennessee are required to hold a license from the TN Department of Commerce & Insurance. Licenses are issued by the Department’s Board for Licensing Contractors. The Board protects the safety and welfare of the public by requiring that all electrical work be performed by licensed professionals.

General Contractor License in Tennessee
The State of Tennessee established the Board for Licensing Contractors in 1931 as a way to regulate their construction industry. Before a person or business is allowed to perform or contract work on projects worth $25,000 or more, they must hold a general contractor’s license.
